The gingham trend is being seen as a fresh alternative to florals, because its clean and is a classic print. The pattern especially this year has a sort of adult appeal to it and some of the styles are very cool. The silhouettes are all super trendy, with the cuts, asymmetric patterns, ruched dresses and some new blouses. We have seen a variety of contrasting hues from classic black and white to a purple and a leafy green. Other than these colors another color that is doing very well this season is blue, this is because of those striped blue shirts, crop tops and blouses popping up all over our Instagram feed. I don’t think gingham has ever gone out of style but this spring it has definitely had a major transformation. So, if you are still under the impression that it’s a simple print and a little boring well you are wrong. The new designs are something we have never seen before, think of big bows, cut outs, asymmetric cuts, ruffled blouses, off-shoulder styles, florals mixed with checks and what not!
However, the million dollar question still remains: how does one execute wearing the print without looking like a picnic table? Look no further, we have put together 10 key wardrobe pieces in the gingham print and styled two full looks for you to get inspired by. When one hears the word gingham one of the things you think of is having a nice picnic on a sunny day with an ice cold drink. This is exactly why we love this print, because it gives you that fresh spring/summer feel, making it the perfect go to print for spring. If you already love checks then mastering the gingham trend should be easy for you, but if you just want to give a little nod to it, try going for some stylish gingham flats or a neck scarf. This week Posherry is helping you unlock gingham’s hidden style potential with 10 looks and have included the trendiest print pieces to buy now.

Gingham Dress

Because is there anything more springtime classic than a gingham dress? This year you have options with cut-outs and panels in the dresses, as well as a couple of colors mixed together. It’s perfect for spring and gives a fresh look along with a classic one too. You can style both the dresses below with some soft pink accessories and your set to look edgy and feminine at the same time.

Gingham Top

The cool thing about the gingham print is that it’s kind of a neutral. It can be mixed and matched with all kinds of different patterns and textures without coming off as too outlandish or bold. A spring classic is pairing it with floral prints for a sweet, feminine vibe. Our favourite is the bowknot wrapped shirt blouse with a pair of floral shorts.

Gingham Shirt

Styling gingham prints can be a tricky thing, especially if you don’t have a preppy or girly type of style. More than that, it can be tricky just because it’s a print, period. If you find it tricky the best thing to do is find a stylish gingham top and pair it with a pair of simple white denims. This way it balances out the whole look out and you only have a lot going on at the top. A simple black, grey and white look with a pop of color from accessories is our favourite pick.

As you all know statement t-shirts are very much in trend right now, and pairing one of them up with a funky and stylish gingham skirt is one our best looks out of the lot. We love the sneakers and skirt trend as well, the two looks below are fun, feminine, sporty, casual and super stylish.

Gingham Pants

We mentioned before how the gingham trend this year involves a lot of color. One piece really stood out on the runway, this was the purple flared gingham pants by House of Holland. It’s so different, new and yet very classic. We have styled a soft ivory color top with it as the purple is all the color you need really. The brown and black and white gingham print also works well together if you want to break the standard black top and pants look.

Rompers are the way to go this season and not just for women, recently we have seen a big buzz about it becoming huge for men too. We find them adorable and the great thing about them is that you work with layers when it comes to a romper. This is why we have styled a fun bright look below, perfect for the sunny weather. A plain yellow t-shirt under a classic gingham romper paired with a a hot accessory trend for the season: Slap Bracelets.
